It would be a colossal understatement to say that the Coronavirus and Covid 19 have brought many changes to our lives. What we do…where we go…and how we conduct ourselves to accomplish those things formerly seen as simple or even mundane has become incredibly complicated. And just when we may think we know exactly what to do, or how to do it best…new guidelines are offered…new restrictions put in place. It can become a bit mind-boggling to keep it all straight when it seems the lines keep moving. One might think that the “reopening of our states and country” would bring us closer to a sense of normalcy, but it seems even that is being seized as opportunity to produce new statutes designed to make us safe, but that by now we have come to expect will be changed before the ink of the present decree has dried.
Wouldn’t you enjoy experiencing something of substance? Something concrete, that will never change… something that is true and will be the same tomorrow and all of the tomorrows after that? Read the following Psalm along with me today for that something that is amazingly solid…rock solid…yes chiseled in stone solid.
Psalm 19:7-11 New King James Version (NKJV)
7 The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple; 8 The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes; 9 The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; The judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether. 10 More to be desired are they than gold, Yea, than much fine gold; Sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. 11 Moreover by them Your servant is warned,
And in keeping them there is great reward.
Aren’t you thankful that the law the Lord gives is so perfect it never has to be changed, revised, updated or improved? It is perfect just as it is to convert our souls and cause us to act and walk in ways that are spiritually safe. Isn’t it awesome that we don’t have to wonder if we are getting the best information from Him? His own words of Himself make us wise. What a refreshment that His statutes don’t make you cry out “What now?” His make your heart happy! His judgements don’t bring confusion, rather enlightenment that is so pure it is good for eternity! What a joy to know that we can forever have confidence in God because His ways are clear, not muddled and ever changing. His judgements are always true…always right…always good for us.
We may not await with baited breath the latest greatest newest instructions from our governing bodies during this strange time, but such is not the case with the sweet and valuable instruction from our ultimate loving authority. His instruction is more valuable than the most refined gold, and sweeter than fresh honey dripping from the comb as it is gently raised from the hive. So good…so sweet…so valuable…so rock solid, we find it always brings great reward to our lives no matter what the condition of the world around us.
Happy is the man who trusts in the Lord…Psalm 40:4 New Century Version (NCV)
